How it works
mathom reads the NTFS Master File Table instead of walking folders, so a full drive takes seconds, not minutes. Results stream in while the scan runs.
It gets the awkward sizes right: NTFS compression, sparse files, hardlinks, OneDrive placeholders.
An alternative to WinDirStat, WizTree, and TreeSize
WinDirStat scans in minutes where mathom takes seconds. WizTree is just as fast but closed source and paid for business use. TreeSize charges per seat. mathom is MIT licensed: free at home, free at work, and you can read every line of the scanner.
